Thanks For Giving Blood Drive returns to Atlantis Wednesday

All blood types critically needed in northern Nevada

Reno, NV – As Thanksgiving approaches, Atlantis Casino Resort Spa and Vitalant are joining forces to urge all eligible blood donors to give thanks for their good health by donating blood for those in need. A Vitalant blood mobile will be in the west parking lot of the Atlantis Wednesday, November 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for anyone that would like to donate.

Fewer people donate during the Thanksgiving and winter holiday weeks than any other time of year, but every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. And sometimes, it requires many donors to help just one patient.

“Keeping an available inventory of blood to treat all patients in need is still very challenging due to fewer donors and blood collections,” said Scott Edward, Vitalant Donor Recruitment Senior Manager. “It’s critical that donors donate soon and donate regularly to prevent future blood shortages.”

Type O blood is often needed for emergencies and lifesaving surgeries while platelet donations are crucial in supporting cancer patients and those with blood disorders.

Donors can register online for the Thanks For Giving Blood Dive at vitalant.org or they can call 775-329-6451. Walk-ins will also be welcome.

All donors will receive two $10 Amazon gift cards (redeemable by e-mail), a Vitalant t-shirt, and a raffle entry for an Atlantis prize package, which includes a one-night stay and a $100 dining certificate.
