Atlantis to host Share the Love Blood Drive Wednesday
Eligible donors urged to help meet critical patient need for blood donations
Reno, NV – Atlantis Casino Resort Spa and Vitalant are teaming up to host the Share the Love Blood Drive Wednesday, February 8th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the west parking lot of the Atlantis. Donors can register for the blood drive at donors.vitalant.org or by calling 775-329-6451. Walk-ins will also be welcome.
Donors of every blood type are needed, especially type O blood. O-negative is the universal blood type that can be transfused to any patient in an emergency. O-positive is the most in-demand and transfused blood type. Just one unit of blood can save up to three lives.
“Approximately 30,000 units of blood are used in the U.S. each day, and every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs a blood transfusion,” said Scott Edward, Vitalant senior donor recruitment manager. “Community blood drives are a great way for us to help ensure blood is available for patients in need.”
February is also Heart Health Month. In addition to helping save lives, all donors will receive a free mini-physical checking their pulse, blood pressure and cholesterol level.
As a thank you for sharing the love and making a heartfelt difference, donors will receive a $10 Amazon gift card and a chance to win an Atlantis Staycation Package, which includes a one-night stay and a $100 dining certificate.
