Reno, NV – The latest temperature monitoring technology has come to the Atlantis.  When guests enter, they’ll simply have to look at a small screen at a thermal temperature station as they walk by, and their temperature will be automatically taken in a fifth of a second.  The stations replace the traditional touchless forehead thermometers that had been used since the casino reopened in June.

The new thermal temperature stations can work from more than 5 feet away and read someone’s temperature as soon as they look at the camera.  They are highly accurate and set off an alarm if someone has a fever. In addition, they can also detect if a person is wearing a mask, and will put out an alert if they are not.  Atlantis is the only casino resort in Reno to have this system in place.

The new technology will further enhance the safety measures Atlantis has put in place to protect guests and team members from someone who could potentially have COVID.  Atlantis has temperature monitoring stations in place at each of its four entrances. 

The temperature scanners measure someone’s temperature in a fifth of a second versus three seconds for a traditional forehead thermometer.  That means that for measuring the temperature of 5,000 people, it would take about 4.2 hours using a forehead thermometer versus 30 minutes for a temperature scanner. 

The technology is made by Dahua Technology and is called the Temperature Monitoring Standing Terminal.  Since sending its first batch of thermal cameras to the hardest-hit area Wuhan on January 24^th, Dahua thermal stations have been deployed in thousands of sites in China, including transportation hubs, commercial complexes, banks, and more.
