Heroes Remembered Blood Drive to be held Saturday at Atlantis
Critical need for blood in northern Nevada
Reno, NV – Atlantis Casino Resort Spa is partnering with Vitalant for a blood drive honoring the heroes who lost their lives 20 years ago on 9/11. Blood mobiles will be on site Saturday, September 11 in the west parking lot of the Atlantis from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for anyone that would like to donate.
Because of wildfires and hazardous air quality in the region, several blood drives have been canceled recently. According to Vitalant, over 400 donations have been affected thus far, leading to a critical shortage of blood.
Vitalant reports they have an especially urgent need for type O-negative blood and platelets, which are in low supply due to the impact of COVID-19.
“We are reaching out to all our northern Nevada community members who are able to donate,” said Vitalant senior donor recruitment manager Scott Edward. “While our national network works in tandem with regional centers such as ours to help ensure lifesaving blood is available, it is critical to continue to collect blood to support transfusion needs for our neighbors.”
Donors can register for the Heroes Remembered Blood Drive at vitalant.org or they can call 877-25-VITAL (877-258-4825). Walk-ins will also be welcome.
All donors will receive a commemorative American flag pin and will also be entered into a drawing for an Atlantis prize package, which includes a one-night stay and a $100 dining certificate.

“This band is held together by music,” Zander says. “It’s the super glue that keeps us writing and putting records out. The reason we started the band in the first place was to tour and write songs and put records out. If all that went away, there would be no point then, would there?”
Tickets can be purchased online at atlantiscasino.com/trick or in person at the Atlantis Gift Shop. Price levels are $65 for general seating and $85 for premium seating. Additionally, a fan experience package will be available for $125.
