Thanks For Giving Blood Drive to be held Tuesday at Atlantis

Critical blood shortage in northern Nevada

Reno, NV – As Thanksgiving approaches, Atlantis Casino Resort Spa and Vitalant are joining forces to urge all eligible blood donors to give thanks for their good health by donating blood to help those in need. Blood mobiles will be in the west parking lot of the Atlantis Tuesday, November 23 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for anyone that would like to donate.

The pandemic has greatly impacted blood donation across the country. 92,000 fewer donors have visited Vitalant blood drives over the past year compared to the previous year.

“Blood donations are being distributed to hospitals as quickly as donations are collected,” said Nicole Jo, Vitalant Senior Donor Recruitment Representative. “All blood types are critically needed, especially Type O and platelet donations.”

Type O blood is often needed for emergencies and lifesaving surgeries. Platelet donations are crucial in supporting cancer patients and those with blood disorders.

Donors can register for the Thanks For Giving Blood Drive at www.Donors.Vitalant.org (search blood drive code Atlantis) or they can call 775-329-6451. Walk-ins will also be welcome.

All donors will receive a $5 Amazon eGift Card and will also be entered into a drawing for an Atlantis prize package, which includes a one-night stay and a $100 dining certificate.
