Atlantis and Vitalant team up for 4th annual Pam Bedard Honor Blood Drive
Friends of former City of Reno employee continue to carry on her mission
Reno, NV – Atlantis Casino Resort Spa is proudly partnering with Vitalant for a blood drive honoring the memory of Pam Bedard, a former City of Reno horticulturist who became an advocate for blood donation during her battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
Blood mobiles will be parked in the west parking lot of the Atlantis Wednesday, February 9th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors can register for the blood drive at donors.vitalant.org (search blood drive code PamB) or by calling 775-329-6451. While appointments are encouraged, walk-ins will also be welcome.
“Community blood drives that encourage local donation and honor community members like Pam Bedard help ensure blood is available for patients in need,” said Scott Edward, Vitalant donor recruitment manager. “Although most people are eligible for donation, only about 3% of the population actually donates. If more people start donating, blood shortages could be prevented.”
Vitalant has a critical need for all blood types, especially type O, which is often used for emergencies and life-saving surgeries. Just one unit of blood can save up to three lives.
Donors will be entered into a raffle for an Atlantis Prize Package, which includes a one-night stay in the Concierge Tower and a $100 dining certificate. Additionally, all donors will receive an Atlantis gelato coupon.
